The problem in this **** is not that we debate opinions. Everything is opinions on every political/current events forum. It's pretty difficult to find something political to post that isn't an opinion...unless it's something like, "Hey! But you oversimplfy, particularly in a **** like this when so many of the "opinions" posted, and I would suggest at least half, are as vapid as the "you suck *** dick" opinion, or the "you're a **** retard" opinion. Want to have a better forum? Get rid of trolls who post nothing but braindead invectives, or violate typical decently moderated forum guidelines such as, no callout threads, no editing another member's quote, and no **** trolling (which is not spamming).
But there's nothing wrong with arguing opinions using other opinions, particularly opinions from legitimate sources and perhaps recognized experts in their fields. I have no problem with somebody saying, "OK where TF did you get this steaming pile of horse ****?"
Using the opinions of others to build one's opinions is what mankind does, along with poisoning itself out of existence.
